How to make the most of football odds comparison?
The most intelligent and thorough punters are the ones that make sure they’re getting the best possible value for their bet when it’s placed. To do this can be an arduous task as you may have to search through several different bookmakers’ sites or apps to find which is offering the best price on your chosen bet.
Not with our odds comparison tool. Here, you can quickly select the bet you’re looking for on any given match from the world of football and with one click you can compare the odds available on a raft of different bookmakers and even add the bet direct to your betslip right here from Squawka.
It’s very easy to use but for a walk-through on how to operate the tool, scroll to the bottom of this page for a how-to use guide.
Ensure you get the best odds offered at the time
The main benefit of using this tool is that you can easily find the best available odds from the listed bookmakers in real time. If the odds change on the sites, they change within the Oddspedia listings too so you can find the best available price at any time.
With our experts producing tips on leagues and competitions from across the globe, you can then head to the comparison tool, find the tip, find the best possible value odds and back it all within a few simple clicks. Easy!
Find your new bookmaker
The best part is that you may even find that one of the bookmakers you haven’t used before is offering the best available odds and not only will you now find and be able to take advantage of these odds – but you may also find a new customer offer worth taking advantage of.
Many of these bookmakers offer punters the chance to get their hands on a sign-up bonus when they register for a new account and you may even find a new bookmaker you enjoy punting with on a more permanent basis. You can also check our full reviews of bookmakers such as 888sport to see the full pros and cons of your chosen firm.

How Football Odds Work
Before you place any football bet, you need to make sure you understand how odds work. There are different types of odds – fractional and decimal being the main two, and whichever you find easier to use is the correct way to view your sportsbook – but don’t worry, whichever way you choose to view your odds, you’ll be getting the same price and the same returns for your bet.
Football betting odds can vary dramatically based on a myriad of factors. You can view different bets based on the market, the league and even outright bets and different bookmakers will often offer different prices on the same bet, hence why the above odds-comparison tool is such an important thing to utilise before you place your bets!
Without a knowledge of how odds work and the different types of odds and bets that you can place, there isn’t much point in placing any bets – so be sure to read on to make sure you’re armed with all you need to understand football betting odds and how they work.
Types Of Football Betting Odds
Odds can vary wildly from bookmaker to bookmaker, even on the same bets at times! But you can find odds for a huge variety of markets with many bookmakers now, with the biggest games sometimes offering over 300 different markets to place your bet on with some bookmakers.
There are different ways of reading your odds too, with the three most popular being Fractional odds, Decimal odds and American odds. You can usually change the settings with each bookmaker to show the odds in the style that you prefer, but first it’s best to understand the differences between these three settings.
Historically the most popular style of odds, particularly in the UK, these are the odds you will usually see when you first enter a bookmaker site from within the British isles. The odds are read in that whatever you stake (on the second half of the fraction), you will receive in winnings from the first half. So for example, odds of 10/1 (with the fraction usually pronounced as ‘to’, meaning these odds ten to one) mean that for every £1 you will stake, you will receive £10 of winnings – plus your £1 stake back, giving your £11 total returns.
Decimal odds are most popular across Europe but you can choose to select these odds as your default setting with your bookmaker of choice. Decimal odds are displayed in a numerical fashion and in many cases, they are easier to read as you don’t need to add the stake back to figure out how much your returns will be. For example, odds of 9.0 will return £9 for a £1 bet, or £90 for a £10 bet. In these bets, decimal odds are displayed up to two places, so odds of 4.33 would return £4.33 for a £1 bet.
American odds are likely to become more popular given the changes in legislation over in American law and gambling in recent years. This style of odds is also known as the moneyline, as it’s based on the amount you win if you bet £100, or how much you need to bet to win £100. If a price has a negative (-) sign ahead of it, that means that the bet is odds-on as it were, and that the amount involved is the amount you need to stake to win your £100.
If, however, it has a positive sign ahead of it, that indicates that amount you would win for every £100 staked. For example, if Manchester United are +500 to win a game, you need to stake £500 to win £100 of profit, in the same way that odds of 1/5. If however, they are -500 then you’d win £500 for a £100 bet – the same as at fractional odds of 5/1.
Football Betting Calculator
Looking for the best way to calculate your bet? Football betting calculators offer you the chance to find out what return you’ll get for your best using the latest live football odds. To use these tools, simply input the odds that your bet is available at and the amount that you’re willing to stake – and you’ll be able to find out what your bet will return!
It’s not just single bets either. You can add as many different bets as you like to a multiple or accumulator bet and can add each of those bets together to find out what odds the combination will calculate as – plus how much you’ll receive in returns for your chosen stake. This is much easier than trying to work out the price offered yourself, unless you’re a maths genius – and we prefer sticking to football!
Win/Draw/Win odds are also known as Full Time Result or Match Outcome odds. This market remains the most popular in the world of football betting and it’s simply a case of backing the team you expect to win – or of course the draw. Many punters like to combine several Win-Draw-Win selections for an accumulator bet, and you can do that by combining bets from as many different leagues and competitions as you like. Be aware that this is different from a ‘Correct Score’ bet – explained below.
A correct score bet is when you bet on the exact result of the match – although this can be harder than imagined at times as you’re betting on the exact correct amount of goals scored by both teams in the game. As a result however, you can often find great value on correct score bets and you will find that many punters combine them with anytime or first goalscorer bets for a huge odds scorecast punt.
Both Teams To Score
Both teams to score bets are becoming more and more popular and particularly as accumulator bets, which we explain below. This bet is as simple as it sounds – you’re betting on both of the teams involved in a match to find the net over the course of 90 minutes. You want to make sure that both of your teams are strong going forward – but not too strong defensively if you’re hoping for them to concede as well as score.
There are many different types of goalscorer bets including first goalscorer, last goalscorer and ‘to score two or more’ but the most popular and shortest odds market here is the anytime goalscorer market, where you’re simply betting on your player to find the net at any time during the match. The result doesn’t matter – as long as your chosen player gets himself on the scoresheet, you’ll be quids in with an anytime scorer bet.
Football Betting Accumulator
Accumulators are the best way to place big value bets across multiple fixtures. You can place bets from as many different markets and as many different leagues as you like and combine them together for huge odds – or combine a few bankers for better returns. These are also known as multiples, or ‘folds’ with as many selections as you have placed – i.e. an accumulator with six selections would be a sixfold.
Football Odds This Week Across The Leagues
Looking for the latest football odds this week? Our oddspedia tool above gives you the latest in the way of markets and prices from across the world and you can even filter the results to bring up all of the available bets on any given day using the date-picker, or by competition if you’re looking for various league odds from across the week’s slate of fixtures.
Here are just a handful of the leagues available to bet on, but you will find that all bookmakers have a huge depth of competitions and markets to bet on nowadays.
Premier League Odds
The most-watched league in the world, the Premier League has become a real haven of football betting in the last few years. With so many historic clubs packed with star players, you can expect the big-match atmosphere every single week in the Premier League’s top tier and those big matches are quite often marked by a depth of market not seen elsewhere, with some firms even offering player markets such as ‘Player Total Tackles’ for example in Premier League fixtures.
And just below the Premier League in the English football pyramid is the Championship, which is regarded by many to be the most exciting and competitive league in the world. The depth of markets available in the second tier may not be quite as extensive as the Premier League, but you will still be able to find the vast majority of popular odds available on the Championship and with most games being played at the same time on a Saturday afternoon there’s also ample opportunity for an acca on this league.
Champions League Odds
Much like the Premier League, the Champions League is watched by millions of fans from around the globe and with the huge range of stats and information available on such an illustrious competition, the bookmakers unsurprisingly offer incredibly large depth on the markets in Champions League fixtures. From your standard correct score, anytime goalscorer and full-time result bets right through to the more obscure corner, cards and player stats markets, you’re able to bet on it all in the Champions League.
Europa League Odds
Although by no means the most popular European competition in relation to the Champions League, the Europa League always consists of a gluttony of top-tier teams and particularly in the latter stages when eight teams drop out of the UCL group stages and into the Europa League. With more and more importance placed on this competition in recent years, the Europa League has gained more and more relevance with the bookmakers too and you can find all the best Europa League betting odds on our Europa League page here.
Every major football league in Europe, South America and beyond will be quite easy to find with most major bookmakers, including the likes of La Liga, Serie A, the Superliga, MLS and plenty more. In fact, many firms now pride themselves on being able to offer odds from some of the more obscure leagues that you may not expect to be able to bet on! The markets available will depend on the information available to bookmakers as well as the popularity of the competition.
Today’s Football Odds
Looking for the best football odds today? Then simply filter the oddspedia tool above by today’s date and you will find all of the best bets available on every fixture being played today, and you can even make sure you find the best odds with our tool as it shows you current live prices from all of the firms featured. What could be easier than that?
Today’s football odds are always likely to fluctuate, particularly as the match draws closer and swathes of bets change the way the bookmakers are thinking, which is why it’s important to get the best possible value at the time of your bet. Most bookmakers will feature the upcoming games front and centre on their sportsbook – but taking the time to take advantage of the odds available on every site is near impossible – so be sure to use our tool to check today’s fixtures, today’s odds and even, elsewhere on the site, today’s betting tips.
In-play Football Odds
It’s not just future matches that the Oddspedia widget above is limited to. You can also use the tool to find the latest, fluctuating oddsfrom In Play matches and the comparison aspect works just as well as you can select each match and each market before listing all of the available prices on your chosen bet.
If you’re using the tool to try some In Play football betting, here are a few tips to consider before you get started.
Find value in a losing favourite
And it’s not just future matches that the widget is limited to. You can also use the tool to find the latest, fluctuating oddsfrom In Play matches and the comparison aspect works just as well as you can select each match and each market before listing all of the available prices on your chosen bet.
React to an in game event
In-Play betting is made all the more exciting if you’re watching the game live, but there are so many ways to consume coverage now that you don’t need to be watching to know what’s unfolding on the pitch, be it penalty claims, red cards or injuries.
If an outsider is enjoying a spell of good possession against a stronger opponent, perhaps you could back them to scorethe net goal at the surely reasonable odds for example, or you can back a particularly sharp-looking striker to take over a certain amount of shots once he has his eye in during the opening minutes.
Cover your winning bets
One for those particularly shrewd punters out there this one. For most bettors, the thrill of chasing a win is where the fun lies but for some, hedging bets in order to ensure profit of some kind can be the way to go and In Play betting offers the chance to do exactly that.
For example, if you’re waiting on four teams to win for an accumulator bet, and three of them are winning comfortably whilst the other team are only one goal ahead, perhaps an In Play double chance bet on the opposition would be a smartmove as that way either the double chance returns some profit or the original accumulator rolls in and it’s profit either way.
FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions)
Which bookmakers offer the best football odds?
There are many bookies out there that’ll be offering competitive odds, specials, and betting tips on all the action from every league imaginable this season. Yet few provide a comprehensive online betting experience for you to hoot about. So, we’ve sorted through the lot and listed the creme of the crop below:
Which league offers the best football odds across the week?
It doesn’t necessarily matter which league you’re betting on, as it depends on the bookmaker that’s offering the odds on how much value you will get on your bet. However, there are different reasons to be on different leagues – the Championship and Premier League can be great for Saturday afternoon accumulators for example, whilst the big match atmosphere of a Champions League fixture can lend itself to a more match-specific bet.
Here are some of the competitions we cover here on Squawka Bet:
- Champions League
- FA Cup

Where can I find the best football betting odds?
Right here at Squawka Bet of course! There are many reasons to choose a bookmaker, not just the best available odds and you may want to consider how easy their sportsbook is to use, their customer service record and any enhancements in prices that they offer to loyal customers or new customers (more on that in a moment), but you still need to ensure that you’re getting the best possible value with all of those factors into consideration when placing your bets.
That’s what makes our odds comparison tool from Oddspedia higher up on this very page such an important tool. Within a few clicks, you can find the exact bet you’re looking for and list all of the available odds on your bet with the bookmakers available – then clicking on the best price will take you straight to the sportsbook to place your bet. Dreamy!
How do I apply enhanced odds onto my betslip?
This depends on the type of enhanced odds you’re backing! New customer offers will usually require a bonus code, so it’s worth checking out the terms and conditions before you look to add a new customer offer to your betslip. The process for these will depend on the bookmaker you’re using and the offer that’s available.
Enhanced odds for all customers are slightly different but again will vary from bookmaker to bookmaker. For the most part, boosted pre-match odds available within the match selections will usually be added to the betslip in the usually way by being pressed – but again there may be further terms and conditions to be aware of before you place your bet.
What kind of football promotional odds are on offer for this weekend’s action?
Every weekend you will undoubtedly find promotional odds available for matches in the biggest and best tournaments across the world, and indeed in midweek when there are Champions League or EFL Cup matches being played. To find the best and latest new customer offers and price boosts you can head to the Bookmakers page, which includes our favourite current offers or the betting articles page which includes all of the key information required for these boosts and enhancements whether that be from Virgin Bet or Paddy Power.
