Porto will look to keep the pressure on title rivals Sporting CP when they travel to Belenenses on Thursday at 7:00pm (UK time).

Sérgio Conceição’s men are just four off the summit of the table and will fancy their chances against a Belenenses side down in 12th, just a point clear of the relegation playoff spot.

Belenenses vs Porto build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:

Just six points separate bottom-of-the-league Farense from Moreirense in eighth and right in the middle of that struggling pack are Belenenses, who have only won one of their last seven Primeira Liga matches.

Petit’s side lost 2-0 to Santa Clara last time out and will be right up against it at home to Porto on Thursday, although that doesn’t change how desperate they are for a result, given the tight nature of the table right now.

Porto head south on a run of 10 Primeira Liga matches without defeat, drawing just one game during that time (1-1 at home to Benfica). The defending champions are only four points adrift of leaders Sporting CP, who are yet to taste defeat this season, and Conceição will expect nothing less than a victory here as he seeks to pile more pressure on the Lisbon giants.

  • Belenenses (vs Santa Clara): Kritsyuk; Silva, Henrique, Henriques; Esgaio, Phete, Taira, Ruben Lima; Edgar, Richard, Casseirra.
  • Porto (vs Rio Ave): Marchesin; Manafa, Mbemba, Pepe, Sanusi; Corona, Oliveira, Uribe, Diaz; Marega, Taremi.

Petit has no new injury concerns in the wake of Belenenses’ 2-0 defeat to Santa Clara. Porto, meanwhile, remain without Romario Baro, Joao Mario and Ivan Marcano, the latter of which is a long-term absentee.

Player to watch: Mehdi Taremi

Although he didn’t get on the scoresheet himself, Mehdi Taremi put in another fine performance against former club Rio Ave last time out, grabbing the assist as Evanlison made it 2-0 and put the game out of sight.

The Iranian forward failed to register a single direct goal involvement across his first eight appearances of the season but since then, he’s been on fire, notching seven goals and three assists in 11 games in all competitions.

This run has drawn Taremi alongside Sergio Oliveira as Porto’s top scorer in the Primeira Liga this season with seven goals, while he also ranks second for assists.

Belenenses have kept just one clean sheet in their last six games across all competitions and Taremi will be doing his level best to make it one in seven on Thursday.
