Bayern Munich will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Bundesliga when they welcome Wolfsburg to the Allianz arena on Wednesday night at 19:30 pm (UK Time).
Bayern Munich XI: Neuer; Hernandez, Boateng, Sule, Alaba; Tolisso, Muller, Sane, Gnabry, Coman; Lewandowski.
Wolfsburg XI: Casteels; Mbabu, Lacroix, Pongracic, Roussillon; Arnold, Schlager, Baku, Brekalo, Philipp; Weghorst.
Surprisingly, Bayern Munich come into this clash on the back of two consecutive draws against RB Leipzig at home and on the road at Union Berlin. Although their stalemate against RB Leipzig was understandable, the one against Union Berlin came as a surprise. The Bavarians have only won six points from their last four league outings and for this reason, they are now second in the Bundesliga table, one point behind current leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
However, Bayern Munich are now back on home soil after their trip to Berlin and it has to be said that they boast an amazing home record. They are undefeated in 22 home games across all competitions and have won 19 in the process. Furthermore, they haven’t lost a single home match against Wolfsburg and this statistic goes all the way back to 1997.
As for Wolfsburg, they had a great start to the season and currently sit fifth in the standings, just three points behind Wednesday’s opponents. Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen are the only two unbeaten teams after 11 Bundesliga games this season. Wolfsburg did well to come back from one-goal down to secure a 2-1 home victory against Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend, so they will enter this game in high spirits. The worrying thing is that Wolfsburg haven’t been very prolific on the road this season, as they have only won once in five Bundesliga trips and have scored just seven goals in that time.
Will Bayern Munich get back to winning ways against an in-form Wolfsburg? Or will Wolfsburg win their first game in history on the road at Bayern Munich?
