A place in the Europa League semi-finals is up for grabs when Barcelona and Eintracht Frankfurt face off at the Camp Nou on Thursday evening (20:00 UK time).
Last week’s opening leg fixture between Barcelona and Frankfurt, the first between the sides, saw them play out a 1-1 draw at Deutsche Bank Park. Ansgar Knauff scored the only goal for the hosts in the 48th minute. Ferran Torres scored the only goal for the La Liga club in the 66th minute.
Barça have only failed to progress from one of their last six knockout stage ties in European competition when avoiding defeat in the first leg, with that elimination coming against Liverpool – the eventual winners – in the Champions League semi-finals in 2018/19 (3-0 in first leg, 0-4 in second leg).
As for Frankfurt they are unbeaten in their last nine games against Spanish sides in European competition (five wins and four draws), including the last four away from home (three wins and one draw) – they won 2-1 away to Real Betis in the previous round this season.

Barcelona team news
The absence of Dani Alves, through ineligibility, opens the door for Ronald Araújo to start at right-back. Elsewhere there’s no place for the injured Samuel Umtiti while there’s doubts over several players. Sergiño Dest, Ansu Fati, Memphis Depay, Gerard Piqué and Sergio Roberto are dealing with knocks. Ferran Torres, who’s expected to start, has been directly involved in four goals in five appearances for Barcelona in European competition (two goals and two assists); the most of any player since he joined the club.
Barcelona predicted XI: Ter Stegen; Araujo, Garcia, Lenglet, Alba; Fd Jong, Busquets, Pedri; Dembele, Aubameyang, Torres.
Eintracht Frankfurt team news
Following his sending off in the opening leg Tuta will miss Frankfurt’s trip. He’s joined on the sidelines by Diant Ramaj while Christopher Lenz is a doubt with a calf injury. Daichi Kamada, who has been Frankfurt’s main attacking threat, should start here. Kamada scored on four occasions in the current Europa League campaign, including one match-opening goal. The attacking midfielder is tied for fourth among the competition’s top scorers in 2021/22.
Eintracht Frankfurt predicted XI: Trapp; Hinteregger, Hasebe, N’Dicka; Knauff, Jakic, Sow, Kostic; Lindstrom, Kamada; Borre.
