Barcelona and Olympiacos will both be looking to put their 2021/22 EuroLeague play-off semi-final defeats behind them when they face-off at the Palau Blaugrana on Saturday. Both sides finished in the top two in the standings during the regular season, but failed to make it to the final after 83-86 and 74-77 defeats to Real Madrid and Anadolu Efes respectively.
Last season, Barcelona ended the campaign with 21 wins from their 28 matches, with only Anadolu Efes (2,322) and AS Monaco (2,311) winning more points than the Spanish giants (2,275), whilst only Milan (1,992) allowed fewer points against them than Olympiacos (2,045), with the Greek side picking up 19 wins from their 28 matches to finish second in the regular season.
Olympiacos are three-time EuroLeague champions, taking home the trophy in 1996/97, 2011/12 and 2012/13, but have failed to reach the final in each of their last four campaigns after being beaten by Turkish side Fenerbahce back in 2017.
Barcelona will be hoping that this will finally be the season that they lift the EuroLeague trophy once more, having now gone 12 years without winning the competition, finishing as runner-ups in the 2020/21 season.
