Austrian Grand Prix F1: Betting Tips, Race Prediction and Latest Odds
Formula 1 heads to Austria this weekend following the race of the season so far at Silverstone on Sunday.
Title favourite Max Verstappen suffered a healthy dose of bad luck at the British Grand Prix, with Carlos Sainz capitalising to claim his first race win. Sergio Perez took the second step to bank a significant points haul for Red Bull and eat away at his team-mate’s points advantage, while Lewis Hamilton secured third as Mercedes took another stride towards the front of the pack.
Focus swiftly turns to the Styrian hills, where both Verstappen and Lando Norris have enjoyed themselves in recent years. Since its reintroduction to Formula 1 in 2014, only Mercedes (6) and Red Bull (4) have won at the Red Bull Ring. Ferrari will be determined to join that list this weekend as Charles Leclerc bids to recover from a difficult weekend in Northamptonshire last time out.

Race prediction: Verstappen to bounce back at Red Bull stronghold
The Dutchman looked comfortably on course for his first British Grand Prix win last weekend, but he suffered a dramatic loss of performance after a piece of Alpha Tauri bodywork became wedged in the floor of his Red Bull.
It’s safe to assume Verstappen would have secured a sixth win in seven races had he avoided the debris, such was his advantage after passing pole-sitter Sainz in the opening laps. But where better for the fired-up world champion to bounce back than Austria? It’s another home race for the Red Bulls and a track where they have traditionally excelled, with Verstappen winning three of the last four races in Styria.
The format should play into Verstappen’s hands, too. Red Bull have certainly driven home their advantage over Ferrari in race trim, but they are perhaps less racy over a single lap. With the second sprint race of 2022 set to take place on Saturday, you sense Verstappen will find himself on pole regardless of the result of Friday’s traditional qualifying session.
The circuit might not suit Mercedes quite as much as Silverstone, but Hamilton’s recent form suggests they are closing the gap to the front two in time to retain a slim title interest. The Brit has four top-five finishes in the last five races, while George Russell was unlucky to see his impressive streak ended last time out. Ferrari, who look to have buried any reliability issues, must now tidy up their strategy calls after a series of blunders nearly cost them victory last time out.
