Heading into this latest pre-qualifier Austria find themselves second in Group A after picking up three wins from their opening four contests. However, last time out the Austrians would fall to an 80-61 loss on the road at Switzerland, the 19-point defeat ended a three-game winning streak which saw them average a 17.3 winning margin. This saw the Swiss assume control in the race for top spot, but Austria are waiting for any missteps as they look to apply pressure with their remaining two games taking place at home in Salzburg. Bogic Vujosevic has been a standout for Austria, the guard is currently averaging 17.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game while possessing a three-point accuracy of 53.3%.

As for Ireland they control their destiny but have a big challenge in taking on both Austria and Switzerland to round off this pre-qualifier stage. They come into this week in third but a point behind the aforementioned teams. Ireland, to date, have won twice (73-81 away to Cyprus and 83-75 at home against Cyprus, but they required overtime). That recent success ended a two-game losing streak which saw Ireland’s margin of defeat average 19 points. Taiwo Badmus has looked the part for Ireland, the forward currently averaging 17.3 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists per game. In the previous showdown against Austria he scored 21 points which remains his best effort in a single pre-qualifier to date.

Prediction: Austria to win, with both teams combining for UNDER 170 points.
