Augsburg vs Bayern Munich live stream: How to watch Bundesliga online

Bayern Munich get the Bundesliga back up and running following the third international break of the campaign when they travel to Augsburg on Friday night (7.30pm kick-off, UK time).

The Bavarians have taken up their habitual position atop the table after 11 games and are naturally looking good value for their lead, currently four ahead of perennial challengers Borussia Dortmund. Augsburg meanwhile are enduring a contrast of fortunes in the relegation play-off position and could do with a giantkilling here to boost their survival hopes.

Augsburg vs Bayern Munich build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:

Having fended off relegation last season, Markus Weinzierl — in his second stint at the WWK Arena — has Fuggerstadter in another precarious position in 16th. It is their worst start to a Bundesliga season since 2015/16 (six points), while they have already failed to score five times in this season’s Bundesliga, more often than any other team. Weinzierl will have to rectify that worrying trend if his side are to somehow produce a miracle result here.

For the reigning champions it has been business as usual, though of course, with an unfamiliar face in the dugout. Julian Nagelsmann knows title glory is non-negotiable for Germany’s most successful club, so the onus on him to produce domestically is high. Fortunately for him, Bayern enter this contest enjoying their best Bundesliga season in six years at this stage of the competition (28 points after 11 matches).

  • Augsburg (vs Wolfsburg): Gikiewicz; Gumny, Gouweleeuw, Oxford, Pedersen; Caligiuri, Maier, Strobl, Vargas; Finnbogason, Zeqiri.
  • Bayern Munich (vs Freiburg): Neuer; Hernandez, Upamecano, Sule*, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka, Coman, Muller, Sane; Lewandowski.

Tobias Strobl, Tim Civeja and Felix Uduokhai are all confirmed absentees for the hosts, while Iago and Noah Sarenren Bazee are doubtful. Bayern meanwhile are without Niklas Sule and Josip Stanisic.

Robert Lewandowski to break another Gerd Muller record?

To say that Robert Lewandowski enjoys playing away to Augsburg would be an understatement. The prolific Pole has scored more away Bundesliga goals against Augsburg than any other opponent he has faced (10, a stat equalled at FSV Mainz and Schalke 04).

The only player to score more goals away from home at a team in Bundesliga history has been Gerd Muller at Schalke (11). So, could Lewandowski break another of the Bayern legend’s records? Braces and hat-tricks are almost expected of Lewandowski these days, so it would be no surprise to see him bag a few on Friday.

You certainly would not bet against it. Incredibly, Lewandowski has netted 21 goals in just 17 games against Augsburg, both home and away, stretching back to his Borussia Dortmund days. In that time he’s netted two hat-tricks (one each for Bayern and BVB) and bagged four braces.
