Antoine Griezmann will look to reopen his La Liga account for Atletico Madrid after bagging a brace in the Champions League when we faces his former club Real Sociedad on Sunday at 8pm (UK time).
The mercurial Frenchman has been a revelation in European football for the Spanish champions since relocating from Barcelona in the summer, but domestically he is yet to get off the mark, though against Real Sociedad, whom he represented between 2009 and 2014, he has scored six goals in 15 La Liga games.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Sociedad previous line-ups & injury news:
Diego Simeone’s men will be licking their wounds following a 3-2 reversal at the hands of Liverpool in the Champions League during midweek, but the Spanish title holders have been in good nick domestically, entering this contest at the Metropolitano in fifth and unbeaten in their last eight games against Real Sociedad.
For Imanol Alguacil’s men, the Basque Country club are currently leading the charge in La Liga after a barnstorming start to the campaign, and if they win here, they will equal their best record after 10 games in a top-flight campaign, though Los Txuri-Urdin have triumphed in just two of their last 19 visits to Madrid teams.
- Atletico Madrid (vs Liverpool): Oblak; Felipe, Kondogbia, Hermoso; Trippier, Koke, Lemar, De Paul, Carrasco; Felix, Griezmann.
- Real Sociedad (vs Sturm Graz): Remiro; Gorosabel, Zubeldia, Normand, Munoz*; Zubimendi, Merino, Portu, Silva, Januzaj; Isak.
Jose Gimenez and Marcos Llorente are once again available for Atleti after coming off the bench against Liverpool in midweek, but Stefan Savic remains sidelined for the hosts. As such Gimenez is likely to move back into defence ahead of midfielder-by-trade Geoffrey Kondogbia. Nacho Monreal and Mikel Oyarzabal are big absentees for the visitors meanwhile, as is the suspended Aihen Munoz, who picked up a red card in the previous league game against Mallorca.
Griezmann to rediscover form after Liverpool masterclass?
It just didn’t quite work out for Antoine Griezmann at the Camp Nou, but he has since returned to familiar pastures and the early indications are promising that France’s talismanic forward can rediscover the verve and inspiration that initially prompted Barcelona to spend a king’s ransom on his signature.
Certainly, as far as La Liga is concerned, Griezmann has flattered to deceive, so far failing to get off the mark and pick up from where he left off in the Spanish capital, but in the Champions League there has been more than a modicum of hope for the versatile attacker, netting thrice in three matches.
His crowning moment came in midweek against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, with the 30-year-old looking back to his brilliant best with two well-taken goals; the first, being an instinctive poke that directed the ball past Alisson from an initial Koke shot, and the second being a trademark touch and finish after evading Virgil van Dijk. His red card was an unfortunate but definitive dampener on an otherwise imperious reminder of his God-given talents.
Incredibly, Griezmann is yet to have a single shot on target in the league during his five games back at Atleti, but against his former club Real Sociedad he has has scored six goals in 15 La Liga games, four with his current employers and two with Barcelona. In that time his teams have won five of those six games in which he bagged.
