Arsenal XI vs Newcastle: Predicted lineup, latest team news and injury updates
Arsenal have significant problems in the heart of their defence ahead of their trip to Newcastle this weekend.
Arsenal: Team News
William Saliba and Gabriel both looks set to miss this weekend’s visit to Newcastle, leaving Mikel Arteta down to bare bones in central defence.
On Saliba, Arteta said “Not a lot; he’s feeling better every single day but he’s still not been able to have any activity around the first-team, so we don’t expect him to be with us.
“We are not yet there [confirming if he is out for the season], because we are always hopeful and players are always pushing to play but if that is the case then we will announce that. Hopefully that will not be the case.”
With both first choice centre backs, as well as right back Takehiro Tomiyasu, sidelined, it could be down to Rob Holding and Jakub Kiwior to protect against a Newcastle attack that has scored 13 goals in their last three games.
Mohamed Elneny has been ruled out for the rest of the season, adding another name to a worrying injury list for Arteta.
