Fresh from a 3-0 thrashing of Monaco in midweek, Arsenal turn their attention back to the Premier League on Saturday when they welcome Everton to the Emirates Stadium (15:00 GMT).

Mikel Arteta’s men were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham last time out in the Premier League. Opponents Everton have had extra rest after their Merseyside derby against Liverpool was postponed due to Storm Darragh.

Arsenal go into the next batch of Premier League games in third spot, six points adrift of table-toppers Liverpool, while Everton are down in 15th place, just five points above the relegation zone.

Arsenal v Everton predicted XIs

Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya; Partey, Saliba, Kiwior, Timber; Odegaard, Rice, Merino; Saka, Havertz, Trossard

Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard are likely to be reintroduced to the Gunners’ starting line-up but youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly could drop out at left-back despite a decent display against Monaco.

Everton (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Young, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Mangala, Gueye; Ndiaye, Doucoure, McNeil; Calvert-Lewin.

Everton could stick with the same team which thumped Wolves in their last Premier League outing, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to start up front.

Arsenal v Everton team news

The Gunners are still short of options in defence with Riccardo Calafiori, Gabriel, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu all on the sidelines.

Thomas Partey and Jurrien Timber missed training on Tuesday but both featured in the 3-0 win over Monaco on Wednesday so should be involved.

Michael Keane is still working his way back from a knee problem for the Toffees, who will be missing Youssef Chermiti, James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam for their trip to the Emirates.

Arsenal aim to return to winning ways

Arsenal had a late winner ruled out by VAR in their 1-1 draw at Fulham last Sunday, but they nonetheless go into Saturday’s clash with Everton in fine form.

The Gunners have won four of their last five matches in all competitions after easing to a 3-0 win over Monaco on Wednesday which has put them on the brink of the Champions League knockout phase.

They have also been racking up the goals recently, putting five past both Sporting Lisbon and West Ham at the end of November.

With Chelsea not in action until Sunday evening, Arsenal have the chance to leapfrog the Blues into second place and they will be determined to keep tabs on table-toppers Liverpool, who play Fulham at Anfield at the same time.

Everton are starting to resemble more of a Sean Dyche team with three clean sheets in their last four contests, although they were hammered 4-0 by Manchester United in their most recent away contest.

However, that was followed by a 4-0 thrashing of relegation rivals Wolves at Goodison Park before last weekend’s Merseyside derby against Liverpool was postponed.
