Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira eyes “special” AC Milan move, says agent
Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is eyeing a “special” move to AC Milan this summer, according to his agent.
The tough-tackling Uruguay international only moved to the Emirates in 2018 and has quickly made an impression, making more tackles (65) than any other Arsenal player in the Premier League across 2018/19, while also helping the Gunners reach the Europa League final.
Torreira to move after just one season? Five things to know…
- Torreira joined Arsenal from Sampdoria for a reported £26m fee last summer.
- He made 65 tackles in the 2018/19 Premier League season.
- His form and commitment over the season made him a fan favourite…
- But reports are now linking him with Italian giants, AC Milan.
- Torreira’s agent claims an offer from the Rossoneri would be “special”.

As such, Torreira’s form and commitment have both made him a fan favourite at Arsenal but after just one season, his time at the club could come to an end.
Torreira’s agent, Pablo Bentancurt, told CalcioMercato: “I know nothing about the Rossoneri’s interest, no one contacted me. I have learned of this possibility through the press.
“Would Giampaolo’s call be something special for Lucas? Yes, clearly.”
While on international duty last week, Torreira fuelled speculation surrounding a move away from Arsenal by telling reporters he “doesn’t know if there are many things he enjoys in England”.

“I don’t know if there are many things that I enjoy [in England],” Torreira told Uruguayan outlet Ovacion. “I think it was better in Italy. England is a totally different world, a very large country.
“The language [barrier] has stopped me, to be able to relate with my team-mates and with the people. It is very difficult when you can’t have dialogue.
“And so is the climate. You go out in the morning and it is cloudy, you arrive late to your home and it is cloudy.”
Despite his strong form in an Arsenal shirt, club legend Charlie Nicholas has advised the club’s hierarchy to move Torreira on – as well as the likes of Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Nicholas told Sky Sports: “If you can get the right offer and move Ozil out, Mkhitaryan can go, I want to keep obviously [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang and [Alexandre] Lacazette and give youngsters an opportunity here.
“Torreira’s another one who seems to be interested in going back to Italy – if you get the right money, take it.
“But come on, start moving on.”
