Mikel Arteta’s side ceded control of the battle for Champions League football in recent weeks and now need the unlikely to happen on the final day for them to overtake Tottenham Hotspur. The Gunners are two points behind their rivals and have to beat Everton, while hoping Tottenham lose to Norwich – given the significant goal difference gap between the two. Everton, meanwhile, were celebrating Premier League safety on Thursday and will perhaps be slightly more relaxed to close the season.

Arsenal team news

Rob Holding is available for Arsenal after missing the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Monday through suspension, having been sent off against Tottenham. However, the Gunners are still without left-backs Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu and midfielder Thomas Partey for this season-closer.

Everton team news

Everton will also be boosted by returns from suspension Jarrad Branthwaite and Salomon Rondon who both missed the safety-securing win over Crystal Palace on Thursday, though only the former has made it into the squad. Richarlison picked up a slight thigh injury in that victory and misses out, as does Yerry Mina who did have a potential return date touted as the last match of the season. This is a start for Tom Davies in midfield, but Nathan Patterson, Fabian Delph and Andros Townsend remain out.
