Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain handed Daniel Sturridge’s Liverpool shirt for 2019-20 season
Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will don the No.15 shirt next season following the departure of Daniel Sturridge.
Sturridge, 29, will leave the Reds on July 1 upon the expiration of his contract after the club decided against penning fresh terms.

- Since signing for Liverpool in 2017, Oxlade-Chamberlain has worn the No.21 shirt.
- Sturridge had previously held the No.15 shirt but will leave the club this summer following the end of his contract.
- Liverpool have wasted no time in re-assigning his shirt number by announcing Oxlade-Chamberlain will wear the strip.
- The 25-year-old previously wore the No.15 shirt during his Arsenal days.

And it appears grievances have been short-lived for Sturridge as the club have already handed his jersey to Oxlade-Chamberlain, who had previously sported the number during his time in north London with Arsenal.
Sturridge will vacate the shirt number after six years at Anfield, scoring 67 goals across 160 appearances in the red of the Merseyside club.

In a heartfelt message to all those associate with the European champions, Sturridge bade a fond farewell on the club’s official website, thanking the Liverpool fans for their support.
He said: “What can I say… It’s been one hell of a ride at this beautiful club. We were together for seven seasons and took a little break in between. We had a lot of highs and lows together but through it all remained together knowing that one day we’d have to break up. That time is now.
“I wanna say to the fans I love you all. You made me feel so welcome and embraced me with open arms. The Sturridge dance became famous at Anfield and I’ll never forget the first time I did it in front of the Kop.
“To my teammates old and new, thank you for the memories, the banter was unreal. You all played a part in making me the man I am today. This isn’t a goodbye because Lord knows we’ll stay in touch no matter where I am, so speak soon.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain to reimburse fans
In a commendable gesture, Oxlade-Chamberlain will reimburse any fan who has already purchased a replica shirt for the new season with ‘Chamberlain 21’ on the back.
The reimbursement will come via a like-for-like exchange for a new ‘Chamberlain 15’ replica jersey, for any fan who bought a kit through the club’s official online store or by means of their official outlets.
