Ajax vs Den Haag build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:

Erik ten Hag remains grounded after Ajax recently opened up an eight point lead atop of the Eredivisie table. With nine matches remaining for the Amsterdammers this season it’s not yet mathematically certain they’ll be hoisting a 35th championship. However, given their current form, it seems inevitable. De Godenzonen are on a 14-game winning streak winning 11 of those outings. At home they’ve been near flawless picking up 10 wins from 12 matches played whilst scoring 35 goals and conceding 12 times.

Heading into this latest round of Eredivisie fixtures only FC Twente (1-2) and PSV (2-2) have left Amsterdam with a result this season and few will fancy Den Haag joining that exclusive group. Firstly, their current form is dire, Ruud Brood’s side come into this Sunday’s game on a 11-game winless run which consists of six defeats. On the road it’s not been good since a 0-1 win at RKC Waalwijk in early January, following that success they’ve made five trips away from home, but none of those games ending positively as Den Haag suffered four losses whilst holding Willem II to a 1-1 draw.

  • Ajax (vs Young Boys): Stekelenburg; Rensch, Álvarez, Martínez, Tagliafico; Gravenberch, Blind; Antony, Klaassen, Neres; Tadic.
  • Den Haag (vs Heracles): Fraisl; Van Ewijk, Amofa, Pinas, Familia-Castillo; Vejinović, Goossens, El Khayati; Besuijen, Kramer, Kishna.

Jurrien Timber (illness) and Noussair Mazraoui (eye) are missing for the hosts whilst Den Haag must do without Gianni Zuiverloon, Daryl Janmaat (knee) and Peet Bijen (ankle).

Player to watch: Dusan Tadic (Ajax)

The race to be crowned ‘assist king’ in this season’s Eredivisie is hotting up. As things currently stand Ajax playmaker Dusan Tadic is on course to defend his throne. The 32-year-old has presently created 12 goals, which is two fewer than he managed last season, which places him ahead of Feyenoord forward Steven Berghuis (10) the only other Dutch top division player to reach double-digits. Since joining the Amsterdammers from Southampton in 2018 he’s been ranked number one per season when it comes to goal creation (13 – 2018/19 and 14 – 2019/20). Aside from setting his teammates up Tadic remains a scoring threat having posted 12 strikes to date.
