Newcastle United team news

Recent signings Sven Botman and Nick Pope, who did not play in Newcastle’s opening friendly against Gateshead, have travelled to Austria. So too have Bruno Guimaraes, Fabian Schar and Chris Wood, but all eyes will be on Botman and if Howe hands the £31.9m defender his unofficial debut on Friday.

Fellow centre-back Dan Burn has recently been discussing his new team-mate ahead of Friday’s match, and the 6ft 6in January recruit says he can’t believe the size of Dutchman.

“He looks really good,” Burn told the club’s official website: “Obviously he’s only young. I can’t believe the size of him for his age.

“I know I’m skinny now, but I was even skinnier back then. He’s showed his quality.”

Scoreline prediction: 1860 Munich 1-3 Newcastle United
