Inactives follow on Sunday, 90 minutes before each kickoff.<\/p>\n\n<p>An NFL injury report is not a list of who is hurt. It is a list of who the club is prepared to say might not play, which is a narrower and more useful thing. Buffalo and Detroit filed theirs before Thursday night. The 15 Sunday and Monday games have their final designations filed through Friday afternoon Eastern, and the tables below fill in as they land.<\/p>\n\n<h2>What the designations actually mean<\/h2>\n\n<p>Clubs file a report on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for a Sunday game, and the Friday version carries the game status. Three designations matter.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Out.<\/strong> Will not play. No ambiguity, and the only designation you can bet on with confidence.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Doubtful.<\/strong> The league&#8217;s own guidance is that this means unlikely, and in practice the large majority of doubtful players do not play.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Questionable.<\/strong> Genuinely uncertain, and the one that moves markets on Sunday morning rather than Friday. Roughly half of questionable players suit up, which is why the inactives list 90 minutes before kickoff is the one that settles it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The practice column matters too. A player listed questionable who took a full practice is a different proposition from one who did not participate at all, even though both carry the same game status.<\/p>\n\n<h2>The absences that move a line<\/h2>\n\n<p>Not every name on a report changes anything. The ones that do cluster in a few places.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Quarterback.<\/strong> Nothing else on a roster moves a spread as far. A starter ruled out is typically worth several points on its own.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Offensive line.<\/strong> Underrated by casual markets and heavily weighted by models. Two starters out of a line changes a team&#8217;s rushing numbers more than one running back does.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Secondary.<\/strong> Corners and safeties out tend to shift totals rather than spreads, because the effect shows up in points allowed rather than in who wins.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Running backs and receivers get the headlines and usually matter least, because depth at those positions is deeper than anywhere else on a roster.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Week 2 injury report, game by game<\/h2>\n\n<p>Times are Eastern.
