Winnipeg trailed the Canadiens 4-0 with 2:39 left in the third period, scored four goals in 2:06 to force overtime and won 5-4 on Dylan Samberg&#8217;s goal 3:30 into the extra period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No team had started a four-goal comeback so late, according to NHL.com. The previous mark belonged to the Los Angeles Kings, who began theirs at 12:46 of the third period against Dallas on 10 November 2007 and won 6-5 in overtime. Morgan Barron made it 4-2 just 42 seconds later, both goals at five-on-five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Winnipeg then pulled Stuart Skinner for an extra attacker. Kyle Connor scored six-on-five with a minute left, and when Alexandre Carrier was called for tripping at 19:25, Connor tied it on the six-on-four power play two seconds later, with 33 seconds left. Connor&#8217;s pair were his 12th and 13th goals of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"record\">The comeback it beat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The old mark had a twist of its own. In 2007 the Kings scored five straight goals in the third period to lead Dallas 5-4, Mike Modano tied it with 1:05 left, and Anze Kopitar won it 2:34 into overtime, according to the NHL&#8217;s game records. Winnipeg&#8217;s rally started more than four minutes later in the game than that one did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"canadiens\">How Montr\u00e9al lost a 4-0 lead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For 57 minutes it was Montr\u00e9al&#8217;s night. Owen Beck and Josh Anderson scored in the first period, and Cole Caufield added two power-play goals, his ninth and 10th of the season. But Winnipeg outshot the Canadiens 47-22, and Fowler made 42 saves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Canadiens coach Martin St. Louis summed it up after the game: \u201cWe were winning but we weren&#8217;t beating them.\u201d It was Montr\u00e9al&#8217;s first loss in six games without its captain, and the Canadiens are 5-0-1 without him. <a href=\"\/ca\/news\/nhl\/nick-suzuki-injury\/\">Our Nick Suzuki injury update<\/a> has his latest status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"jets\">What it means for the Jets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was Winnipeg&#8217;s first win since 13 October. The Jets are 5-8-3, and TSN&#8217;s Darren Dreger said on 3 November, before the game, that a coaching change was not on the club&#8217;s radar for now.
