Arseny Gritsyuk scored the only goal of the shootout.<\/strong> Evan Bouchard opened for Edmonton in the first. Connor Brown and two Jack Hughes goals 45 seconds apart put New Jersey 3-1 up in the second. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Leon Draisaitl pulled Edmonton level, each on the power play. Connor Hellebuyck made 18 saves and is 3-0-0 as a Devil. Tristan Jarry stopped 31 of 34. Zach Hyman did not dress.<\/p>\n

Wrong side, though the over came in.<\/strong> Edmonton at +119 earned a point and not the win. New Jersey outshot the Oilers 34-21, which is the more honest read of the night than our case for the better record. On the total, TonyBet hung 6 and we took the over there. The shootout counts as one goal for totals, so seven went over. Bet99 and Mise-o-jeu had 6.5, where we’d said we’d pass. Edmonton is 11-2-3.<\/p>\n

Edmonton finished six points ahead last season and scored 0.64 of a goal a game more. The power plays were far apart, 30.6 per cent against 22.0. New Jersey had the better kill and conceded a little less.<\/p>\n

New Jersey is tenth, outshoots opponents by nearly eight a game, and has a new goaltender<\/h2>\n

Tenth on eighteen points, New Jersey hasn’t played since winning 5-2 in Vegas on Friday. The Devils are taking 32.6 shots a game and allowing 24.8.<\/p>\n

Hellebuyck is 2-0-0 with 36 saves on 39 shots since the trade.<\/strong> Jake Allen has the bigger workload, 5-3-0 at .887, and gave up five in Colorado last week.<\/p>\n

The weakness is the kill. It’s at 70.0 per cent, 26th, which is a bad number to carry into a game against Draisaitl. Arseny Gritsyuk leads the club with eight goals and Jack Hughes has sixteen points.<\/p>\n

Anthony Mantha left Friday’s game in the third period and Evan Rodrigues missed Monday’s practice with an illness. Both are day to day.<\/p>\n
