The Canadiens are 7-3-2 and level with Ottawa on sixteen points. They have won 4-1 in Chicago, 2-1 in Winnipeg at the Heritage Classic and 2-0 in St Louis, all inside a week.<\/p>\n

Nick Suzuki has not played in any of them.<\/strong> The captain is out until around 18 November with an upper-body injury, and the club has taken six points from three road games since. Ivan Demidov is out until the end of the month.<\/p>\n

Jacob Fowler is the reason. A .924 across six starts and a 5-1-0 record, including the shutout in St Louis. Jakub Dobes is 1-2-2 at .847 behind him, which is the widest gap between two goaltenders on this card.<\/p>\n

Dallas finished six points clear of Montréal last season with a much better defensive record, at 2.76 goals against a game. The power-play gap was five and a half points in Dallas’s favour, at 28.6 per cent, and that was the best in the league.<\/p>\n

Dallas have eight players out and were beaten 5-1 at home<\/h2>\n

The Stars are 7-4-1 on fifteen points. New Jersey beat them 5-1 at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday, which ended a five-game winning run and was their heaviest defeat of the season.<\/p>\n

Eight players are listed.<\/strong> Matt Duchene is gone until around 12 January with an abdominal injury, Oskar Back until mid-November and Radek Faksa until early November. Esa Lindell is out to the end of the month. Kyle Capobianco and Sam Steel both carry return dates of today.<\/p>\n
