Edmonton is winning in spite of its goaltending, not because of it<\/h2>\n

The Oilers are 8-1-1 with a goal difference of plus fifteen and have taken their last two in a shootout: 4-3 against Minnesota and 6-5 against Carolina, the league leader.<\/p>\n

Devon Levi has a .887 across seven starts and Tristan Jarry a .873 across three.<\/strong> Both are below league average, and Frederik Andersen is out until late December with a knee injury. A club second in the NHL is doing it with skaters.<\/p>\n

Connor McDavid leads the league in scoring by a distance and Evan Bouchard is the leading defenceman by points. Mattias Ekholm is newly out until 31 October<\/strong>, which thins a blue line already missing depth, and Matt Savoie is gone until late November.<\/p>\n
