Connor McDavid had two goals and three assists.<\/strong> Edmonton led 5-0 by the midpoint, with McDavid setting up Zach Hyman and Kasperi Kapanen and Leon Draisaitl before scoring his second. Karel Vejmelka was pulled after 33:48. Edmonton was outshot 28-21 and won by four anyway.<\/p>\n

Wrong side, right total, and one error we need to correct.<\/strong> This page said Zach Hyman was unavailable and the FAQ answered a flat no to whether he was playing. He played, and he scored on the power play.<\/strong> That came from the league injury feed and should never have been stated as fact. We also built the Edmonton section on Devon Levi at 4-1-0, and Tristan Jarry started instead and stopped 26 of 28, which is the fourth time this weekend a goaltender we wrote around did not take the ice. Eight goals cleared the six we wanted for the over.<\/p>\n

The Mammoth are 6-2-0. At Rogers Place on Thursday they scored twice on the power play before Edmonton had a goal, and won 4-2 with two from Clayton Keller.<\/p>\n

Karel Vejmelka has started six of the eight and is 5-1-0 at a .898, with Sebastian Cossa taking the other two. The injury list is just Maveric Lamoureux and Michael Carcone, one of the shortest of any club playing Saturday.<\/p>\n

The run also includes a 5-4 win over Toronto and a 4-1 win in Buffalo. Only the 6-1 loss in Boston on 8 October looks out of place, and Utah has scored 31 goals in eight games.<\/p>\n

Utah finished a point behind Edmonton last season despite conceding far less, 2.93 a game to 3.23. The Oilers’ power play, running at 30.6 per cent, made up the difference.<\/p>\n

Edmonton has eleven players out and lost at home for the first time<\/h2>\n

Thursday was Edmonton’s first regulation loss. After a 6-5 overtime defeat to Vancouver on opening night, the Oilers won five straight, including 9-7 in Vancouver and 4-1 in Los Angeles on 13 October, and they’re 5-1-1. They’ve scored 31 goals in seven games, more than four a game, despite the absences.<\/p>\n

Eleven Oilers are unavailable. Zach Hyman, Jake Walman, Jason Dickinson, Matt Savoie and Mattias Janmark are all out, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been skating but wasn’t ready on Thursday, and Frederik Andersen, signed in July, is still rehabbing a knee.<\/p>\n

Devon Levi has carried the goaltending at 4-1-0 and .897. He stopped 20 of 23 on Thursday before being pulled late for an extra attacker, and Keller scored into the empty net. Tristan Jarry has two starts and a .837.<\/p>\n
