West Ham to be without four first-team defenders v Liverpool

West Ham United are set to face a defensive injury crisis ahead of Saturday’s game at home to Liverpool.

Winston Reid, James Collins and Jose Fonte are all struggling with injuries, while Pablo Zabaleta is suspended after receiving five bookings this season.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Fonte suffered a foot injury during West Ham’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday, while Reid and Collins missed the game against the Eagles with a calf strain and a foot problem respectively.

If Fonte, Reid and Collins are all ruled out of the game against Liverpool, then West Ham manager Slaven Bilic, who is battling to save his job, will have just two natural centre-backs to choose from in Angelo Ogbonna and Declan Rice, although midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate could fill in there if required.

West Ham are currently in 16th place in the Premier League having taken just nine points from their ten games so far this season.

West Ham have conceded 19 goals in the Premier League this season
