Valencia loanee Andreas Pereira rules out early Man United return

Manchester United loanee Andreas Pereira has made it clear his immediate future is with his current loan club Valencia.

The Spanish outfit, who finished 12th last term, has performed beyond expectations this season and currently find themselves third in La Liga, five points above Real Madrid, and have just beaten Las Palmas 5-1 on aggregate to progress to the quarter-final of the Copa del Rey.

Former Brazilian under-20s midfielder Pereira moved to Valencia in September on a season-long loan from United, apparently against Jose Mourinho’s wishes.

Pereira, 22, has enjoyed a solid season in Valencia and says all that he is thinking about is ensuring a successful campaign for his loanee club.

The attacking midfielder told Spanish outlet Superdeporte: “I’m here and I want to stay. I feel good.

“I’m playing better and I want to win the [Copa del Rey] cup with Valencia.”

This season Pereira has made 20 appearances across all competitions and 16 in the league, in which he has scored once and assisted three goals out of 16 chances created. Of any Valencia player to play 10 La Liga games or more, he averages the third-most chances created per 90 minutes (1.66).

Pereira is now looking ahead to the prospect of winning silverware in his first year at the club.

He added: “We are all very excited, very happy but now we are going to see on Friday who will play us [in the Copa del Rey].

“It was very important for us, for the fans. It gives us a lot of confidence to win 4-0 [in the second leg against Las Palmas] and we have to work, be humble and keep growing.”

The Copa del Rey quarter-final draw takes place this Friday.
