Slaven Bilic confident West Ham beat Chelsea

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has expressed hope that his side can cause a shock by beating Premier League leaders Chelsea at London Stadium next Monday.

The Hammers prevailed against a much-changed Chelsea side in the EFL Cup earlier this campaign and Bilic believes that it is possible that they could overcome Antonio Conte’s team again.

As reported by Reuters, Bilic said: “Hopefully we are going to do the same (as the 2-1 League Cup win). They are doing fantastic, they are winning and they are everything.

“They are solid and up front they have that unbelievable pace, strength and quality that is hard to stop. But we are a good team now, and we have been really good for a period of seven or eight games.”

Bilic believes West Ham’s physical and mental condition, as well as two technical elements of the team’s style of play, are behind their good form.

He added: “We are good physically, we are good mentally, we are good on the ball, we are good in transition, and that is why there is always belief.”

Chelsea are ten points clear at the top of the Premier League table and will hope to take another step towards the title when they face West Ham.

However, Bilic’s team will be determined to prevail and will take inspiration from Burnley’s performance against Chelsea earlier this month when Sean Dyche’s side managed to secure a point.

West Ham, who drew 1-1 with Watford on Saturday, are currently ninth in the Premier League table and have gone three top flight games without defeat.

Chelsea, meanwhile, won 3-1 against Swansea City at the weekend as they demonstrated their ruthlessness in front of goal.

West Ham have created 253 chances in the Premier League this season
