Granit Xhaka close to completing Arsenal move

Arsenal are reportedly close to signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka in the summer, with all parties now confident of the deal going through.

Xhaka, who has shone for Gladbach this season, has been attracting plenty of interest for his performances and Arsenal are regularly the team linked with him.

According to the Mail whilst there is a slight difference in the two teams’ valuation of the player, Gladbach want £30 million whilst Arsenal are prepared to play closer to £20 million, every party accepts the deal is likely to go through.

The player is keen to move and Gladbach are aware that they are very likely to lose him in the summer, even if the deal could be delayed until the German transfer window opens in July.

Xhaka will add plenty of steel to the Arsenal midfield and according to the Mail he is expected to slot into the team alongside Santi Cazorla, which could be problematic for Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey.

It’s certainly a good start to the summer planning for Arsenal, after the club were criticised in the summer for only signing goalkeeper Petr Cech, but the fans will still want more than just Xhaka in the upcoming window.

Granit Xhaka has won 83 aerial duels in the Bundesliga this season.
