Mahrez has been given permission by the Algerian FA to finalise a transfer and, although there were previously reports linking him with a move to Barcelona, it appears that the 26-year-old could join Chelsea before the transfer window closes tonight, as reported by beIN SPORTS.
So far in this transfer window Chelsea have signed Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Willian Caballero, while they are also closing in on a deal for Torino defender Davide Zappacosta.
Mahrez has been heavily linked with a move away from Leicester this summer.
After helping the Foxes to win the Premier League title against all odds in the 2015/16 season, Mahrez found matters rather more challenging last campaign, although he did still provide some glimpses of his quality.
Last season Mahrez scored six goals in the Premier League, while he created 50 chances for his team-mates.
