The Red Devils have made one summer acquisition so far in central defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica and now look set to make moves to bolster their strikeforce following the release of Zlatan Ibrahimovic – the club’s top scorer in the season just gone.
Both Morata as well as Belotti have been heavily linked with moves to Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho seeks to new number nine and he’s been given advice from Meulensteen as to who would be the better addition out of the pair.
“Morata is a good striker, he’s mobile, agile, and creates chances,” he told 888sport, as reported by Goal.
“The same can be said of Belotti but both would be coming from abroad and would have to adapt to the Premier League which we all know is difficult.
“If Belotti comes in it’s important that he scores early and get the monkey off his back. Then he could be a good fit.
“For me, though, it would be Morata. We haven’t seen enough of him lately but then again it is extremely hard to get into that Real team.”
Morata, who returned to the Santiago Bernabeu following two successful years at Juventus only last summer, still found himself on the fringes at Real Madrid last term, but still weighed in with 20 goals across all competitions.
The same can’t be said for Belotti as he was a regular for Torino. His reputation as one of the most promising centre-forwards across Europe certainly improved after netting 26 goals in Serie A -a total bettered than only by Edin Dzeko and Dries Mertens (both 29).
