Nantes confirm Claudio Ranieri is on their four-man shortlist to replace Sergio Conceicao

Nantes president Waldemar Kita has confirmed former Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri is one of four men in contention to be the club’s next manager.

The Ligue 1 side’s president Waldemar Kita confirmed the media speculation that Nantes were considering the former Premier League-winning manager – who remains out of work since being sacked by Leicester City in February 2017 – to replace the outgoing Sergio Conceicao.

“There are 3-4 names on our list and one of them is Portuguese,” Kita told A Bola (via Football Italia).

“Another hypothesis is the one that leads to Ranieri.”

Ranieri drew great sympathy from the football world after losing his job at Leicester City.

Despite achieving unprecedented glory in the East Midlands, winning the Premier League title in his only full season, a run of six goalless games led to his unpopular sacking.

The 65-year-old coach has revealed that numerous national teams have offered him a role already, but he instead wants to take charge of a club, having endured an awful stint with Greece in 2014.
