Moyes praises Collins, Noble and Reid ahead of trip to face West Ham

Sunderland manager David Moyes has praised West Ham United trio James Collins, Mark Noble and Winston Reid ahead of the meeting between the two sides at London Stadium tomorrow.

West Ham have endured a difficult start to the season but Slaven Bilic still has some high-quality players at his disposal. However, while the likes of Dimitri Payet and Michail Antonio are often widely praised, Moyes believes that other individuals also deserve credit.

As reported by the club’s official website, Moyes said: “It’s obvious to talk about Payet and Antonio has done very well, so I think they have good players but they also have heart in the likes of Collins, Noble and Reid who have been there a long time.

“I think they have a good team and they showed it last year, but you have to remember that prior to that they were a little inconsistent and they were never a team who were always near the top of the league.

“Prior to that they got relegated and came back up, so they’re trying to find their consistency as well.”

While West Ham have been vulnerable at the back this campaign, Collins has still made some important interventions to prevent further damage from being inflicted, with the Welshman having averaged ten defensive actions per game in the Premier League this season.

Sunderland have made an even worse start to the season than West Ham, with Moyes’ team currently bottom of the table having failed to win a Premier League game. A victory tomorrow, however, could help the Black Cats to kick start their campaign.

Mark Noble has an average pass accuracy of 88% in the Premier League this season.
