Michy Batshuayi’s Chelsea initiation song was a disaster, says Eden Hazard
In an interview with Chelsea’s official website, Hazard spoke candidly about his Belgian compatriot whom he neighbours with in the Chelsea dressing room.
When asked to reveal a secret of Batshuayi’s, Hazard recalled the striker’s initiation following his £32 million move from Marseille in 2016.
“You need to ask Michy about his song he had to sing when he first arrived at Chelsea after signing. It was a disaster!”, joked Hazard.
“Michy okay, he likes style, he likes to be dressed like a rapper. It is his own style, I don’t like it but for him, it is good.”
Batshuayi hasn’t quite commanded a first-team place under Antonio Conte behind initially Diego Costa and now Alvaro Morata, but isn’t struggling to adapt life in London.
“To be fair, Michy’s English is much better than before, he is improving a lot. I just want Michy to change his hair,” Hazard added.
However the 23-year-old is being made to feel at home Chelsea alongside international teammates Hazard and Thibaut Courtois.
He continued: “It is good because we are friends. We are from the same country, we talk the same language so it is funny. We can joke about something and we are laughing every time. That is the good thing. To have friends next to you.”
Batshuayi coming to the fore?
“I’m not a joker.”

Since relocating from Marseille he’s been largely used as the Blues’ reserve striker (as understudy to Costa and then Morata).
To date, he’s featured 38 times for Chelsea, registering 15 goals and three assists in the process.
So far this season he’s produced six goals in nine matches including a first hat-trick for the club against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup and a memorable winning goal in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.
