Michy Batshuayi will go “wherever Chelsea tell him” amid West Ham links

Michy Batshuayi will go “wherever Chelsea tell him” amid West Ham links

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi admits he’s open to the prospect of a loan spell away from the club next season, amid links to West Ham United.

The Belgian international was one of four big-money signings made by Antonio Conte last summer as he arrived for over £30million from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille and was expected to play a prominent role at Stamford Bridge this season.

However, it turned out to be a rather frustrating one for the 23-year-old as he made just one Premier League start – after the Blues had wrapped up the title – and has since been tipped to leave the club temporarily in order to secure regular first-team football.

London rivals United have strongly been linked with making a move as Slaven Bilic, who failed with a bid for Batshuayi last summer, is expected to renew his interest and the centre-forward admits he’s happy to go along with what the west London outfit want.

“Honestly, I’m not trying to think too much [about my future],” Batshuayi told Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad.

“It will be up to the board and the coach to decide. I’m the player, I go where Chelsea send me.”

Despite playing second fiddle to Diego Costa and even compatriot Eden Hazard at times this season, Batshuayi still weighed in with a respectable nine goals in all competitions – including one against West Brom which clinched the title.

Should he complete a switch to the London Stadium then he could forge a strike partnership with Nigerian youngster Kelechi Iheanacho.

The 20-year-old has fallen out of favour at Manchester City since the arrival of Pep Guardiola last summer – earning just 525 minutes of Premier League action this season – and looks certain to join the Hammers following comments from his agent earlier in the week.

Michy Batshuayi boasted a shot accuracy of 73% for Chelsea in the Premier League this season.
