Gregory van der Wiel is expected to join Man United after it was decided he will leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, as per Tuttomercato.
The Dutch right-back will appeal to Louis van Gaal as he is in desperate need of a dependable player in that position, after missing out on Dani Alves, who agreed a new deal at Barcelona on Tuesday, as reported by BBC Sport.
Van Gaal only has Rafael and Antonio Valencia as recognised right-backs at the moment but has previously been linked with the 27-year-old. The
The Metro reported in April that Van der Wiel was a target for the Red Devils, with the story claiming that Laurent Blanc was looking at alternatives for the £9-million rated player.
Van der Wiel played just 25 games for the French champions last season but did win 45 out of 87 tackles and also created 18 chances for the Parisian club.
Stats show that Van Gaal would be better placed to keep hold onto what he already has at Old Trafford, as Valencia has won more tackles and created more chances than the Dutch international.
Van der Wiel has played 104 games for PSG since the 2012/13 season, where he has won Ligue 1 three times. He has also earned 41 international caps for the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have already been busy in the market, with the club bringing in Memphis Depay from PSV.
