Man Utd set to make £30m bid for Karim Benzema
Manchester United are reportedly ready to launch a £30 million bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema with the players future increasingly unclear, according to the Daily Mail.
According to AS Real’s new boss, Rafa Benitez, is planning to play Cristiano Ronaldo centrally as a striker, leaving no place for the Frenchman in the starting XI.
Benzema is not accustomed to a place on the Bernabeu bench, and is unlikely to be happy warming it having spent six years in the starting line-up.
As a result the Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish capital, with Manchester United showing serious interest in signing the striker.
The Mail believes that Real could be ready to cash in on the striker this summer, and United would be willing to offer £30 million for his services. There seems to be a little debate other the fee that would be needed to land Benzema, with Metro quoting a substantially higher fee of £40 million.
The 27-year-old Real striker has had another useful season in front of goal, scoring 15 goals in 29 La Liga appearances. Benzema recorded a 53% shot accuracy this term, and also helped create 44 chances for his teammates.
Should Benzema leave Real it would break up the ‘BBC’ striker force that included Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
United are expected to spend big again this summer, and will be hoping that Benzema would have a greater impact than transfer flop Angel di Maria who himself moved to Old Trafford from Real last summer.
