Philippe Coutinho made his first appearance for Liverpool tonight since his proposed transfer to Barcelona failed to materialise, with the midfielder coming on as a 76th minute substitute in the Reds’ 2-2 draw with Sevilla in the Champions League.
Coutinho received a positive reception from the Liverpool supporters at Anfield, although his performance wasn’t especially impressive.
The Brazilian was successful with 75 per cent of the passes that he attempted, while he created one chance but he failed with both of his attempted take-ons.
Coutinho was the subject of several offers from Barcelona in the summer transfer window but ended up staying at Liverpool.
It remains to be seen whether the 25-year-old will remain at Liverpool for the long term, with Barcelona surely likely to reignite their interest in him in future transfer windows.
For now, though, Coutinho could have a significant part to play for Liverpool until January at least.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Coutinho’s performance

You could clearly see that Coutinho needs games. Not match fit atm. But he's gonna be brilliant this season!
