Inter will “consider” offers for Man Utd target Ivan Perisic, says Spalletti
Inter Milan are willing to listen to offers for Ivan Perisic this summer, according to manager Luciano Spalletti.
The 28-year-old Croatian international has been strongly associated with a move to Manchester United.
Until now the Nerazzurri have been reluctant to part company with their winger, but as Spalletti recently said, if an offer too good to refuse arrives then it would be hard to turn it down.
“He’s an important player in the team and we’re counting on him to start the new season,” he said, as reported by BBC Sport.
“Sure, there were rumours, but the status quo is that we want to keep Perisic.
“Having said that, if someone comes in with a very difficult offer to reject, then we’ll consider that.
“But, of course, we’ll need to find a valid alternative for Perisic as well.”
Odds slashed on Man Utd to sign Gareth Bale
United boss Jose Mourinho targeting a winger is public knowledge with atop of his list.
However, there are other options, including Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale who according to bookmakers Ladbrokes whose odds to join the Red Devils have gone from 7/1 to 4/1.
The potential arrival of Kylian Mbappe from Monaco for a world record fee of £161m has intensified speculation regarding Bale’s future in the Spanish capital.
Paris Saint-Germain (20/1), Manchester City (25/1) and Bayern Munich (33/1) are also in the running.
“Punters are putting two and two together, and in order to finance Mbappe’s mega move something’s got to give – that’s Bale to Manchester United this summer,” Cian Carroll of Ladbrokes News’ said.
The lowdown on Perisic
An out-and-out winger, though capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, the Croat has three years left on his present Inter deal after joining the Milanese giants from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2015.
Since arriving at Milan, the Split-born forward, has gone on to make 79 appearances under four different managers (including current Crystal Palace head coach Frank de Boer) registering 20 goals and 18 assists in the process.
To date he’s won 56 caps with Croatia, since making his debut under Slaven Bilic in 2011, scoring 16 goals with one of those coming in their historic win over Spain at last summer’s European Championships.
