Danny Welbeck reveals why he’s “dat guy” for Man United
Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney has revealed that John Terry is the toughest defender he’s faced while team-mate Danny Welbeck explained why he is ‘dat guy’ during a recent football interview with Nike.
After doing a Q&A with Nike, the pair gave reasons on what their best moment is at Old Trafford and what goal stands out for them during their time in a United shirt.
With the current domestic season not going well, Rooney and Welbeck are both looking to help the team improve with a win at Burnley this Saturday.
Many fans wrote in questions for the strike duo and the pick of the bunch are shown below.
Who is the toughest defender you’ve faced?
“I would have to say John Terry is the toughest defender I’ve played against. He reads the game really well, he’s physical and he’s tough to play against so you know you’re always in for a tough game when you play against him,” Rooney said.
Welbeck, 24, was labelled as ‘dat guy’ by Ravel Morrison last season and the England international finally admitted why that was the case.
“It’s something you can’t really explain, “dat guy”, and anyone can be “dat guy” in a certain situation. Wazza (Rooney) was “dat guy” the other day. It’s just a bit of slang like, growing up in Manchester people are called “dat guy” or if you do something you’re “dat guy” and I think that’s how it just started. I’m “dat guy”.”

While receiving plenty of questions, Welbeck admitted that assistant manager Ryan Giggs has been his role model when growing up.
The former Manchester United winger was able to see Welbeck develop into a first team regular and the 24 year-old “Obviously as a United fan it was Ryan Giggs – I loved watching him play since I was a little kid,” he said.
Rooney, 28, was given the captaincy after being at the club 10 years. The striker has scored over 200 goals during his time at the club but revealed his favourite was the sensational bicyle kick against Manchester City.
He said: ‘I would have to say my goal against Manchester City. It was 1-1 with 10 minutes to go. Scored an overhead kick in the derby which won us the game. It was definitely my best goal.
