Bournemouth’s top scorer: Josh King “intrigued” by Tottenham transfer links
Tottenham have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old in recent weeks, as Mauricio Pochettino aims to improve on this season’s second-placed finish and poor European displays.
Vincent Janssen was signed last summer as an alternative attacking option to star player Harry Kane, but has struggled greatly, causing the speculation over another striker transfer.
King is seemingly flattered by the reports, but wants to remain on the south coast.
As reported by Football London, King said: “I would be a liar if I said I hadn’t noticed it. It was in most papers in England and you have got people tagging you and sending you links here and there.
“I was intrigued even being mentioned in the same sentence as Spurs, a big team who play in the Champions League.
“You never know in football but, hopefully, I will be here next year and I’m looking forward to working with the gaffer because he’s been brilliant with me since the day I set foot on the training ground.”
What were the key numbers behind King’s Premier League campaign?
80 – King displayed the best pass accuracy (80%) of any Bournemouth attacker.
36 – He missed just two of the 38 league games this season, after sitting out seven in 2015/16.
16 – Most importantly, the Norway international finished as the Cherries’ top scorer with 16 goals.
