Arsenal are considering a £50million bid to sign Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez.
According to the Mirror, Arsene Wenger has turned his attentions to the Colombian star with a summer approach in mind.
It is believed James, valued at £50m, is pushing for a move to secure first-team opportunities for the 2017/18 season.
The former Porto and Monaco sensation has fallen out of favour in Madrid and boss Zinedine Zidane did not name James in the Champions League squad to face Juventus.
Links with Gunners rivals Liverpool and Manchester United have persisted since the end of the La Liga campaign in which Madrid finished champions.
James, though, was only handed 13 league starts all season but still managed to score eight goals and provide six assists from a total of 22 appearances.
His Champions League outings were equally patchy with only four starts on the club’s way to another trophy in Cardiff.
Isco was preferred ahead of James this season and made 30 La Liga appearances, scored 10 goals and provided nine assists.
But despite his lack of regular gametime James still registered the second highest number of chances created in the Madrid squad in league action with 44.
