On his day off last week, the 29-year-old suffered broken ribs whilst reportedly in a taxi heading for the airport having attended a concert by Maluma and that caused him to sit out the 1-0 win over Chelsea four days ago.
Initially, City had hoped Aguero’s injury wasn’t too serious and that he would be in contention for the home clash against Stoke City after the international break.
However, an update from Argentina’s national team doctor Donato Villani has suggested the striker will be out of action for a little while longer.
“He’s feeling very bad because he was really looking forward to coming to play and this incident, which had nothing to do with him, left him out of the two games,” he said, as reported by the Guardian.
“He’s going to be off the pitch for a month and a half.
“He can’t move in his house, nor get in and out of the car. He seemed very down to me because we wanted to be here.”
Flourishing alongside Gabriel Jesus in a two-man strike partnership, Aguero is City’s leading scorer in the Premier League so far this season with six goals in as many games, while he’s also proven to be more than just a goalscorer by registering three assists.
