Ander Herrera “always ready to play” after only 80 minutes of Premier League action for Man Utd this season
Following the arrival of Nemanja Matic in the summer as well as a slight tweak in formation, the Spaniard – named Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year by supporters last season – has seen his game time rather limited so far this campaign.
Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Stoke City was Herrera’s first start in the Premier League this term but the 28-year-old insists he’s not frustrated by only featuring for 80 minutes in the top flight of English football so far.
“I am always ready to play,” he said. “I always say the same.
“I am a team player and when the manager needs me, I will be there and that’s it. In football, there are no surprises.”

In a disappointing 2016/17 league season in which the Red Devils finished sixth, the performances of Herrera were impressive. He registered six assists, won more tackles (64) and made more interceptions (86) than any player across the entire squad.
Against the Potters he completed 89% of attempted passes, created one chance but was successful with 1/5 tackles as United dropped their first points of the season and he’ll be hoping to feature in tonight’s Champions League clash against Basel.
