HOLD – “A lot can happen” – Bellerin unwilling to commit to Arsenal as Barcelona speculation increases

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has refused to rule out a summer transfer to Barcelona following what he described as a ‘difficult’ season at the Emirates Stadium.

The Spain youth international defender has been continuously linked with a return to the Nou Camp, where the 22-year-old came through as an academy graduate before being lured to Arsenal by Arsene Wenger in 2011.

According to Goal, new Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has been given the go ahead to make a £43.6 million bid for the right-back.

Speaking ahead of his participation in the under-21 European Championships in Poland this summer, Bellerin has admitted he is keeping his options open.

“You never know what can happen, but I have a contract and when I finish my holidays after the Euros I will have to go back there,” he told Mundo Deportivo.

“The truth is that every player of a top level wants to play in the Champions League, especially when I’ve been playing in it for two years. As a team, we didn’t achieve qualification and it’s something that we want to correct, but as a player, I repeat: it’s an important competition.

“It’s a great thing to know about the interest of a club like Barca, the club where I grew up. I don’t know anything at the moment. I’m an Arsenal player and we’ll see what happens.”

Hector Bellerin completed an impressive 80% of his attempted dribbles in the Premier League last season.
