Xavi Out-Passes Levante & More Startling Stats From La Liga’s Explosive Opening

Xavi Out-passes Levante

The reigning champions Barcelona were back in action on Sunday and hosted relegation tipped Levante. It took just minutes for the scoring to open up and we were seeing Barcelona back to their best.

We all know that Barcelona at their best is high possession, plenty of goals and of course – the key to this Barcelona side – incisive passing. Xavi, the main passer of the team went into half time having completed more passes (52) than the entire Levante side (50).

In the second half it looked like he was going to finish the match with more passes completed but in the end Xavi attempted the same amount of passes 100, as the starting XI for Levante ‘completed’ the whole game. Of his 100 passes, he managed to complete 94, falling just six passes short of the whole Levante squad, gaining a 94% pass completion rate compared to Levante’s team rate of just 63%.
