Ronaldinho backs Napoli to stop Juventus’ Serie A dominance

Former AC Milan midfielder Ronaldinho has backed Napoli to win the Serie A title this season.

Juventus have been dominant in Serie A in recent years, winning the title in each of the last six seasons, but Napoli have made a flying start to the campaign and are currently top of the table.

Asked whether Napoli can win the title, Ronaldinho told Premium Sport: “Yes, they’re doing great work. They’ve been doing well for years, and this season I think they can battle Juventus to win it.”

Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri has managed to get his side playing some dynamic, free-flowing football this season – they have scored 25 goals in seven games and have created an impressive 111 chances.

With the likes of Dries Mertens, Jose Callejon and Lorenzo Insigne in their side, Napoli have one of the most exciting attacks in European football and they have also been impressive defensively, conceding just five times in the league.

Ronaldinho played in Italy for Milan for three years and received a Serie A winners’ medal for the 2010/11 season despite leaving the club for Flamengo halfway through the campaign.

Napoli have an average shot accuracy of 61 per cent in Serie A this season
