Wolfsburg’s Kevin De Bruyne breaks Bundesliga assists record

Reported Manchester United target Kevin de Bruyne has broken the assists record in the Bundesliga.

The former Chelsea player registered his 21st assist of the season against Borussia Dortmund to break the previous record held by Zvjezdan Misimovic.

De Bruyne has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer according to the Mirror with his future at Wolfsburg uncertain.

De Bruyne says he can’t guarantee that he will be at Wolfsburg next season

He equalled the record for the most assists in a single Bundesliga season when he played a fine through-ball to Daniel Caligiuri inside the opening minute against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday to register his 20th assist of the league campaign.

He then notched up his 21st of the season to set a new record just after half-time when Naldo converted from close range following De Bruyne’s corner.

Misimovic held the previous record of 20 when he reached that number for Wolfsburg’s title-winning campaign of 2008/09.

De Bruyne is set to be one of the most in-demand players in the upcoming summer transfer window and apart from Manchester United, he has also been linked with Manchester City, as per the Daily Mail.

De Bruyne has also scored 10 goals in the Bundesliga this season

The Mail reports that Wolfsburg wants around £40 million for the 23-year-old who left Stamford Bridge in January of 2014, but contrarily the Mirror reports United as preparing a bid above £50 million for the player’s services.

Further complicating the matter is the fact that Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are interested in the player as well with the Bavarian club’s Luis Gustavo backing the Belgian to be a success, as per the ESPN.

De Bruyne has a pass accuracy of 75% in the league this season
