Lyon have fended off competition from a host of Premier League clubs to the signing of highly-rated full-back Ferland Mendy from Le Havre.
The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the finest prospects in French football and had been linked with a summer move to the likes of Crystal Palace, West Bromwich Albion, Brighton as well as Championship outfit Birmingham City (via Sky Sports).
However, it’s the Ligue 1 giants who have won the race for the left-back’s signature as he’s put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais and he was officially unveiled to the media at a press conference this afternoon.

Mendy’s contract at Le Havre was set to expire next summer, but the Ligue 2 side are said to have received a transfer fee of €5million (£4million) from Lyon with add-ons, as reported by L’Equipe.
A talented prospect, Mendy featured in all but three league games for Le Havre last season, scoring twice, registering five assists in the process and becomes Lyon’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Marcal and Bertrand Traore.
