Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion have been dealt a serious injury blow after youngster Joao Teixeira was stretchered off in the Championship last night with what looked like a serious knee injury.
Teixeira, 22, has made 32 appearances for Brighton after being brought in on loan by former Liverpool captain Sami Hyypia earlier this season. The Portuguese youngster has dealt well at Championship level and looks more than comfortable, having scored six goals, making him the club’s top scorer.
He’s also created 63 chances, which is 23 more than any other player at the club, making his injury a tough one for the Seasiders to deal with. It also comes as a big blow to Liverpool, who had planned on having him back with the club fit and ready for a big pre-season tour (via ECHO).

After more than proving himself at Championship level, a good set of performance during pre-season could have set him in good stead with Brendan Rodgers heading into the new season, but a serious knee injury would complicate things hugely.
Rodgers likes to give young players a chance so this could be a big setback for the 22-year-old, who made his debut in the Premier League for the Reds away to Fulham last season.
