Joe Rothwell has been sent back to Manchester United after an unsuccessful loan spell with Blackpool, the club have confirmed.
The 20-year-old’s loan spell was cut short after having to wait over a month for his debut and was only able to play three games before being sent back to Old Trafford.
During his time at Bloomfield Road, Rothwell was able to complete 79% of his passes but completed just three of his 12 attempted take-ons.
After making his debut in the 4-0 drubbing by Norwich City, Rothwell picked up his first full 90 minutes in another 4-0 loss, this time against Brentford. In that clash, Rothwell completed just 64% of his passes and won just two of his five attempted tackles.
With Blackpool suffering on and off the pitch, it has been revealed Rothwell has returned to Man United:

Ahead of his move, Man United reserve coach Paul McGuiness claimed that Blackpool would be getting a skilful player who is very good at passing and creating chances but reckoned he needs to show more defensive work, as reported by MUTV.
With Rothwell returning to Man United, he might join up with the first-team and get back to training with them like he was back in December.
