Former Juve striker Christian Vieri believes Ronaldo would “revitalise” Italian football

Former Juventus striker Christian Vieri says Cristiano Ronaldo joining his former club will be like Serie A winning the lottery.

Ronaldo, 33, sees his present deal with Real Madrid expire in June 2021 but has in recent days been sensationally linked with a move to Italian powerhouse Juventus.

If the Old Lady can manage to sign the five-time Ballon d’Or recipient, then Vieri – who also represented both Milan giants – believes Serie A will be the big winners.

“For Italian football it would be like winning the lottery,” he told beIN Sports (via Goal).

“People don’t talk about Serie A much abroad, because there aren’t the superstars there were in the past. Ronaldo would revitalise it.

“Even I would be more motivated to watch the league, every Sunday the world would be wondering what Juventus did and how many goals Cristiano scored.”

Ronaldo’s Real Madrid supremacy

Since joining in 2009 from Manchester United, where he is still fondly remembered, the Portuguese forward has become a Real Madrid legend.

He is the club’s all-time leading goal scorer having registered 450 goals in 430 matches (one every 84 minutes). Ronaldo is also his country’s record marksman, bagging 85 goals across 154 matches for Portugal, with whom he lifted the European Championship in 2016.
