Mikenkovic is one of Europe’s most highly rated young centre-backs, having enjoyed a decent campaign in the SuperLiga with Partizan this year.
The 19-year-old’s potential and ability has seen him linked with a move this summer with Juventus reportedly keen on a deal earlier this year but it seems Serie A rivals Fiorentina have got the player instead.
Reports have been rife about Milenkovic’s move to the Italian club and now Partizan sporting director Milos Vazuara has announced the deal has gone through for £4.5m (€5.1m), giving the club a budget to work with in the transfer window.
Speaking to the Partizan official tv channel Vazuara said: “You know all we sold Milenkovic to Fiorentina for €5.1m. In July the first part of the payment will come from the Viola. We will have availability in the market.”
Mikenkovic has played 40 times in all competitions this campaign for Partizan with the defender netting three goals for his club.
The defender, once confirmed by the club, will be Fiorentina’s first signing of the summer as they look to build on their eighth place finish in Serie A.
